Posted on by Michael

Those in the educational studies field have a lot of knowledge about what education is. The rest of the world is left wondering what it is and its goals. They might wonder how it works and how to improve their educational experiences. Education involves diverse methods of learning.

Its origins go back to prehistorical times. Oral communication was the first method of teaching. Then, writing became a primary instructional method. That began the cultivation of the formal education system that exists today. Initially, it was reserved for the wealthy and elites. Then, books became more widely available. That increased literacy among the population. Since this time, education has become increasingly important. Here is more about today’s definition of education.

Types

According to the Department of Education, there are several methods of education. The most common are formal, non-formal and informal. The complexity of the learning material determines the grade level within the formal education system. The learners’ ages also come into play when determining grade level. Other non-formal and informal classifications are based on the materials taught.

Role

According to the experts at Bentham Science, education plays an important role in society by impacting social, economic and personal aspects of life. It impacts society by ensuring that people can maintain a stable system. People gain the knowledge they need to contribute to society. That involves reading, writing, speaking and basic arithmetic. It also involves using basic communications technology. The current education system gives children these skills.

Factors

Publications like the Bentham Open state that a lot of factors contribute to the quality of education. As far as students go, psychological and sociological factors affect their ability to learn. Educational technology, teacher quality and parental involvement also affect the quality of their education. These factors can influence each other and determine whether a student has a good learning experience or not.
